Job Purpose/Scope: 

 

Management of assigned customer accounts to ensure customer satisfaction in the area of product, price, quality, service and technology.  Under limited supervision and instruction, handles as a liaison a variety of customer service, program management, quality, manufacturing, and engineering issues.  Negotiates with direct contacts both internally and externally with moderate direction. Possibly has authority or responsibility for the supervision of others.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee or act as the project manager (see Project Manager Job description), resident engineer, and quality liaisons.
  • Lead and motivate internal team members, indirect reports, and direct reports.
  • Maintain customer contact lists.
  • Understand assigned customers (processes/procedures, customer’s products and trends, etc.).
  • Forecast existing business and develop plans to identify/pursue new business, and implement those plans into Customer Strategies and Action Plans.
  • Identify new business opportunities, obtain RFQ’s, lead RFQ process, deliver RFQ response, follow-up with customers, and communicate status of new opportunity within Huf.
  • Aware of customer satisfaction metrics and issues.
  • Ensure all engineering changes made to products are correctly priced and submitted to the customer on a timely basis by utilizing the internal systems and procedures in place for communicating changes
  • Meet with customers on a regular basis to review pricing and design changes submitted to ensure customer confirmation/approval of pricing.
  • Manage and negotiate the financials of the account such as payments, past due receivables, freight, packaging, returned shipments for non-conforming goods. This negotiation should be subject to limited input from the responsible Sales Director.    
  • Communicates frequently with engineering, sales, cost estimators, customers, and managers to ensure current status relative to pricing, design, program issues, part issues, contract terms and conditions and all other customer issues.
  • Serve as a trainer for less experienced staff as necessary

Supervision Received and Given: 

Reports to the Director of Sales.  Provide guidance to other positions indirectly.

Educational Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree in business/engineering or an associate’s degree and 6 years equivalent experience.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Four years of experience in sales preferably with an automotive supplier. 
  • Certification may be required in some areas.
  • Very strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong negotiator
  • Strong administrative, organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects.
  • Able to pass all background checks and pre-employment drug screen tests.
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.

Specialized Working Conditions and % Travel:  (i.e.: hearing, vision, extreme temperatures) 

  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection of small defects and parts 
  • Travel is required domestically and internationally and on short notice.
