The Project Manager is responsible for developing and leading the assigned projects with cross-functional teams to assure project success. Responsible for achieving the On-Time and On-Budget Launch while also ensuring sub-goals for Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, and Engineering.
Key Activities
- Be the Project CEO.
- Main customer interface on the assigned project(s).
- Review project requirements and develop timelines to meet project milestones with the project team (internal and external).
- Ensure the Project is on Budget, on Time, and on Quality.
- Set a budget, analyze, and activate recovery plans as necessary to meet budget goals.
- Ensure that all Tasks according to the Huf Product Development Process including Project Gate Reviews are completed accurately and timely.
- Establish, monitor, track and maintain the project Open Issues list and Engineering Changes and drive for timely completion.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor project team members in a matrix environment.
- Lead problem resolution between Huf and Customer.
- Lead problem resolution between Huf Departments located in different geographic locations (Tennessee, Detroit, Mexico, China, Brazil, and Germany).
- Notify Management (including the Site Manager or Sr. Vice President if necessary) of critical issues in a timely manner.
- Evaluate effectiveness of the team and escalate as required.
- Participate in frequent project status review meetings by presenting project status reports to senior management in US, Mexico, and/or Germany.
- Support Sales and Engineering departments with commercial discussions and negotiations.
- Mentor Team Members to successfully achieve their tasks.
- Lead change management.
- Update customer portals as necessary.
- Lead team in pre-production quality resolutions.
- Be the spirit of the team and set the example of success.
Desired Profile
Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related technical field or an Associate’s Degree with 15 years of related experience.
- 10 Years Project Management experience.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written in English. German or Spanish language skills is an advantage.
- Strong computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office and Project is essential.
- Able to maintain and work with confidential information.
- Strong negotiator who brings resolution to problems and issues.
- A strong presence in front of the customer who can argue their position.
- Knowledgeable in electrical and mechanical systems such as zinc die casting, plastic injection molding, assembly, and painting.
- Strong administrative, organizational skills and the ability to simultaneously manage and coordinate projects in different geographic locations that are on different time zones.
- Negotiate using internal resources in a matrix-based Project Management structure
- The ability to manage a budget and react accordingly.
- A strong presence in front of the customer who can argue their position.
- Able to manage multiple projects concurrently with different timelines.
- A good aptitude to learn new skillsets and the ability to adjust to a changing environment.
- SAP experience is an advantage but not necessary.
- Managing teams remotely and conducting meetings using MS Teams.
- Multi-OEM experience is recommended.
