The Tooling Procurement Engineer (injection molding)  will support all new development projects from the acquisition phase until the serial-production-handover, with the target to optimize everything around the injection molding. This includes the design optimization regarding feasibility, the tool sourcing, and optimization process. Maintaining high availability of all plastic injection tooling and achieving the highest level of quality 

The main task as a project manager from the Tooling Procurement - Injection Molding department is leading the organization of projects in all topics around the injection molding for Huf Tennessee.  This includes project tracking from the concept phase to the serial-production-handover with a focus on tool procurement as well as for upcoming replacement tools

Key Activities

  • Manage the tool sourcing process for new projects
  • Maintain computerized records of tooling procurements, status, and disposition information
  • Management of tools regarding ECR (Engineering Change Request) / RFC (Request For Change) changes and optimizations
  • Close cooperation with a global project team regarding product developing and the respective project manager
  • Organize the RFQ (Request for Quote) process for new tools
  • Generate ACE (Approved Capital Expenditure) and purchase request for new tooling and ECR tooling changes
  • Coordinate tool design review meetings including design feedback and maintaining records
  • Provide weekly status reports for new tools, ECR changes, tool corrections and sampling process
  • Support the tool supplier before first trial and organization with the IMPE (Injection Molding Process Engineering) team at startup of the tool
  • Support product development, quality and tool supplier during inspection and approval phase
  • Update all the required fields for Huf Tennessee new and revised tooling such as spare parts, 3D data and preventive maintenance requirement
  • Close cooperation with  IMTO ( Injection molding Tool Technology ) and IMPE ( Injection molding Process Engineering)

Desired Profile

  • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology/ Advance Manufacturing preferred but not required
  • Tooling experience and manufacturing experience required
  • Experience in project planning and tracking required
  • Injection Molding experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as a moldmaker /toolmaker/tool designer for injection molding tools or similar experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in project planning and tracking
  • Independent and structured way of working with willingness to work flexible hours
  • Good organization skills; ability to track project timing and costs
  • Preferred experience with 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software
