Job Purpose/Scope: 

This position will primarily be focused on PEPS door handle electronics and kick sensor modules which encompass the following technologies: capacitive sensing, hall effect sensing and small ECU processing with power supply circuitry and BUS communication options.  We're searching for an experienced automotive Project Technical Lead with demonstrated product experience.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with electronics design for PEPS, Capacitive Sensing, door handle Electronics and Kick Sensors

  • Coordinating efforts among different engineering teams and locations
  • Lead / Support customer meetings representing electronics product development
  • Support internal team meetings to ensure all groups have pertinent information (documents and specifications) required to meet objectives
  • Prepare DFMEA and DVPR documents
  • Prepare internal specifications (Product, SOW, Component and Test)
  • Work with plants and testing groups to schedule DV/PV testing builds, provide testing specifications and documents and ensure all tests are run properly
  • Understand V-model process and CMMI level 2 requirements at a minimum
  • Take initiatives and introduce new ideas


Essential Functions:

Assisting in the design and development of capacitive sensors and modules for use in an automobile environment

  • Assisting in the generation of electrical schematics and PCB layout

  • Performing worst case analysis and component reliability studies

  • Participate in and support design gate reviews

  • Developing and maintaining product documentation

  • Product specifications

  • Component specifications

  • Test specifications and reports

  • SOW


  • DVPR

  • Risk analysis

  • EMC test plans

  • Working with test engineering to ensure product verification and validation is performed properly

  • Working with external test labs to validate and qualify products

  • Performing statistical analysis of data to predict the reliability and confidence level of the part

  • Assisting customer engineering teams with presentation of design concepts and evidence of design objectives being met.

Reports to the Team Leader, and/or Manager.


Educational Requirements: 


Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and related field and 5 years’ experience in a related role.


  • 5 years’ experience in automotive industry
  • Technical judgment to solve problems
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good organization skills (ability to track project timing using MS project or other tool)
  • Good customer service skills
  • Experience developing/maintaining DFMEA/DVPR and product specifications
  • Experience with MS Office tools (Excel/PowerPoint/Word/Project)
  • Familiar with 6 sigma tools preferred
  • Understanding of TS16949 quality standards preferred
  • Experience with LIN, CAN, ISO9141 driver interfaces preferred
  • Experience with fault detection and diagnostics strategies preferred
  • Experience with 8 bit microcontrollers (i.e. PIC) preferred
  • Knowledge of capacitive sensing is a strong desire
  • Experience with DOORS requirements capture is a plus
  • Experience with electronics test equipment (scopes, analyzers, Arbs, etc…)
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Expedition and Designer is a plus
