Job Purpose/Scope: 

This position will own the responsibility for the successful development, launch and support of Sensor product systems for the Huf Group organization. This position will assume the leadership role for the system in assuring that all requirements for the system (Huf internal and external) are captured and the development of the system shows clear traceability and compliance to these requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead project technical development  activities
  • Leading product development cross functional team
  • Lead electronics design for Capacitive Sensing, door handle Electronics and Kick Sensors
  • Coordinating efforts among different supporting groups (validation, prototype, industrial engineering, program management, quality, sales and purchasing) to ensure a common understanding of the system
  • Lead / Support customer meetings representing electronics product development
  • Lead / Support internal team meetings to ensure all groups have pertinent information required to meet objectives
  • Maintain product development cost within budget
  • Being in line with the project time schedule
  • Prepare internal specifications (Product, SOW, Component and Test)
  • Support the creation of System Requirements / System Architecture
  • Take initiatives and introduce new ideas

Essential Functions:

  • Assisting in the design and development of capacitive sensors and modules for use in an automobile environment

  • Contributes to the definition of the acquisition strategy and its implementation

  • Assisting customer engineering teams with presentation of design concepts and evidence of design objectives being met.

  • Manages the product development activities

  • Supports the project manager regarding product development issues

  • Decides about the acceptance of customer product requirements

  • Decides about the definition of product requirements

  • Coordinates the creation of the design verification plan

  • Decides in the design reviews about the release of the product design

  • Release product documentation: Product specifications, Component specifications, DFMEA, DVPR, EMC test plans

  • Working with external/internal test labs to validate and qualify products

     

    Supervision Received and Given: 

    The Project Technical Lead Engineer is responsible for the delivery of the intended system therefore will provide guidance to the product development team to confirm all expectations and requirements for the system is met. This position will report to the Engineering Manager.

    Educational Requirements: 

     

    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and related field and 5 years’ experience in a related role.

     

    Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • 5 years’ experience in automotive industry

  • Experience with leading product development cross functional team
  • Leadership skills
  • Technical judgment to solve problems
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good organization skills (ability to track project timing using MS project or other tool)
  • Good customer communication skills
  • Knowledge of the V-model development process is desired.
  • Knowledge of capacitive sensing is a plus
  • Experience in launching minimum 2 projects for an automotive OEM preferred
  • Experience with Embedded electronics
  • Experience with MS Office tools (Excel/PowerPoint/Word/Project)
  • Experience with LIN, CAN, ISO9141 driver interfaces preferred
  • Experience with DOORS requirements capture is desired.
  • Experience with ASPICE and/or CMMI level 2 or higher process standards is a plus
  • Membership in INCOSE is a plus
  • Familiar with 6 sigma tools is a plus

 

Specialized Working Conditions and % Travel: (i.e.: hearing, vision, extreme temperatures) :

 

Occasional travel (<15%) locally (within 50 mile radius) of work place to support project meetings. Occasional international travel (<15%) (Germany, Mexico, Romania, China) to support training, workshops and project related items.
