The Paint Technician will assist in the development of application parameters and use parameters for the automated application of painted parts within the paint shop. To ensure that the correct process is being followed according to the correct agreed process flow and control plan documentation. To monitor and cooperate with other departments within the Huf company to achieve the collective goals.

Key Activities

  • Follow and assist in the development of process procedural documentation and systems to internal and industry requirements. Development to be coordinated through Huf continuous improvement process.
  • Follow  work instructions for specific paint plant technician functions.
  • Assist with the design and development of new and existing methods of part presentation (jigs and adapters) providing direct feedback observations from production.
  • Assist with the preventative maintenance aspects of the plant functions, giving information to the Maintenance Department regarding the equipment and maintenance thereof.
  • Provide essential information to all members within the department for specific functions in the department to ensure no interruptions to production.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the robot application parameters programs following established programming.
  • Assist and run online trials for new and existing products and design for new color and paint introductions and developments/improvements of existing products.
  • Support problem solving activities in response to non conformance reports, continuous improvement and variation reduction (6 Sigma).
  • Regular reporting of functions of application process to lead technician (e.g. preventative maintenance)
  • Maintain functions for plant operation (e.g. water management and booth air pressure balance)

 

Desired Profile

Educational Requirements:  High school degree and 5 years equivalent experience in Electrostatic Paint Application (automated).

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Robot operating skills
  • Technical understanding of Water based (WB) and Solvent Based (SB) paint technology and appropriate application thereof
  • Able to understand a broad range of equipment functions in automated painting facilities
  • Knowledge in established problem solving tools
  • Electrostatic application using atomising air gun and high speed bells
  • Data collection skills
  • Understanding of maintenance fundamentals for robot paint systems
  • May be required to have color discrimination and pass the Farnsworth Munsell Color Hue Test.
